Marian Rivera returns to TV via the sci-fi drama ‘My Guardian Alien’

Kapuso Primetime Queen Marian Rivera makes her much-anticipated comeback to television in “My Guardian Alien.”

Fans can also look forward to the unexpected tandem of Marian with seasoned leading man, California-based Gabby Concepcion in this out-of-this-world, feel-good family drama under the helm of award-winning director Zig Dulay.

The cast also includes Max Collins, Gabby Eigenmann, Marissa Delgado, Kiray Celis, Raphael Landicho, Josh Ford, Caitlyn Stave, Christian Antolin.

“My Guardian Alien” premiered in North America and the Middle East on April 1.

“Matutuloy na sa wakas!” the veteran actor wrote on Instagram tagging Marian. He also added the hashtag #AgainstAllOdds.

Earlier this year, Marian teased her showbiz comeback in an episode of “Updated with Nelson Canlas.”

“Sana magawa na ‘yung isang project na gagawin ko, so definitely sana makita na nila ako, sana matuloy ‘tong project na ‘to and then may mga gagawin ako sa regional kaya abangan nila ako,” she said.

However, Marian said she won’t return to work full-time as her family is her priority. She has two kids, Zia and Sixto, with husband Dingdong Dantes.

“Sila pa rin priority ko kasi nag-aaral pa rin ‘yung dalawa,” she said. “Time management talaga is very important kaya sisiguraduhin kong maayos ‘yan.”

Marian Rivera Gracia was born in Madrid, Spain to Francisco Javier Gracia Alonso, a Spanish, and Amalia Rivera, a Filipino from Cavite. According to her Wikipedia profile, her parents divorced when she was three years old, after which her mother brought her to the Philippines where she grew up. “However, her mother had to leave to continue her work commitment abroad and Rivera was sent to her maternal grandmother, Francisca Rivera, in Maragondon, Cavite.”

She obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology degree from the De La Salle University-Dasmariñas.

Stardom beckoned when she began to appear on television commercials and the fashion ramp. Soon, she was doing films and TV soap operas. She became a Regal Entertainment contract actress in 2006. Her biggest break came the following year when GMA cast her to lead “Marimar” based on the Mexican telenovela. There she met Dingdong Dantes, who was her leading man, and later became her husband. The show was a record hit on Philippine television.
