Chapel hosts Stations of the Cross art contest
The Chapel of San Lorenzo Ruiz is calling on all creative minds to participate in a Stations of the Cross Art Contest on March 23 at 6:30 p.m. The contest is open to artists, singers, dancers, poets, photographers, and other creative minds, according to CSLR publicist Jessica Abejar.
There is no fee to join the competition, and the theme of Stations of the Cross is open to all interpretations. There will be two categories: visual art and performance art. All you need to do is show up at the chapel located on 378 Broome Street between Mott and Mulberry, and sign up.
The contest is open to Filipinos of all ages and talents. Two prizes of $100 each will be awarded to the best visual art and the best performance art. All participants will receive a prize for enlisting. Audience vote counts for 50 percent of each artist’s score, so bring as many family and friends. Snacks and refreshments will be served.
The event is hosted by FAMILYYA or the Family, Youth & Young Adult Ministry.
“FAMILYYA aims to bring the Filipino American Catholic community of New York closer together through meaningful lessons on the liturgy, through service in the Mass, and through community activities,” said Abejar in a statement.
FAMILYYA meets every Friday evening after the 6:30 p.m. mass. The meetings are typically open to the public.
