On October 25th and 26th, Jewelmer Joaillerie will host an exclusive trunk show at the Asia Society. This event will share the beauty of the golden South Sea pearl and to celebrate the luxury brand’s growing success in the United States.

Jewelmer, established in 1979 by Filipino businessman Manuel Cojuangco and French perliculturist Jacques Branellec, is one the leading producers of South Sea pearls in the world. For over three decades, Jewelmer has been cultivating golden South Sea pearls in the Philippines.

For the first time, Jewelmer will be collaborating with renowned Philippine jewelry designer Wynn Wynn Ong to create the exclusive collection.

Born in Burma, Wynn Wynn Ong began designing jewelry in 2001, and her work is celebrated internationally for its meticulous craftsmanship. The jewelry she will be designing for Jewelmer will have only a limited number of pieces available.

When Wynn Wynn Ong partnered with Jewelmer to create the collection, her goal was to create pieces that highlighted the pearls’ perfection through settings that remained true to her style: organic and highly textured. The designs are a reflection of Philippine myths that reflect the place that has become a home for both her and the family behind Jewelmer’s legacy.

The rich tapestry of Filipino mythology brings us a tempestuous woman whose wrath controls the tides, a merking whose daughter lures men into shadowy depths for supper, and a seemingly handsome farmer that is sometimes espied by young maidens, who watch him murmur ancient prayers into the wind to ensure a bountiful harvest. One major piece in the collection – Hanan, named after the Goddess of the Morning – is a jeweled garland of wild berries filled with lustrous golden and white pearls, whose vines are populated with tiny tourmaline insects.

“Having the golden South Sea pearl worn by men and women all over the world is truly an honor, “ said Jewelmer Joaillerie President and CEO Jacques Branellec. “It symbolizes the beauty and skill of the Philippines, whose National Gem is the South Sea pearl. It also shows the importance of caring for the environment. The pearl is a symbol of the health of the planet: Without a beautiful environment, we cannot have beautiful pearls.”

Jewelmer cultivates its golden pearls through a process that takes up to five years and 377 individual steps. Its quality and heritage benefit from the know-how and expertise of master craftsmanship from Place Vendome, Paris. The results are wearable pieces of art set in 18-karat gold and accentuated by the finest gem stones and have captured the hearts of pearl lovers all over the world.

Currently, Jewelmer operates 13 showrooms in the Philippines, and has a retail presence in 22 countries worldwide including North and South America, China, Europe, Australia, Hong Kong, Japan, and the Middle East.
