After making her mark in New York City appearing in many Tony-nominated Broadway musicals, actress/comedienne J. Elaine Marcos has relocated to the west and is making her Los Angeles theatre debut starring in the upcoming Pasadena Playhouse production of “Waterfall.”

J. Elaine plays the memorable role of Nuan in this musical based on a contemporary Thai novel, Behind the Painting. “Waterfall” is an epic new Broadway Bound musical love story written by Tony Award and Oscar winners Richard Maltby Jr. and David Shire. The production runs from May 29th to June 28th.

Although the anxiety of relocating was a scary decision for J. Elaine after years of working in New York she notes, “I was absolutely nervous, but as they say ‘if you can make it here, you can make it anywhere.’ I guess I am testing out that theory.”

J. Elaine is no stranger to the big screen, she garnered roles in “St. Vincent” with Bill Murray, “Before I Disappear” with Oscar winner Shawn Christensen, and in “Morning Glory” as Lisa Bartlett, the woefully unqualified entertainment reporter, with Rachel McAdams and Harrison Ford.

Speaking of television, J. Elaine appeared in FX’s “Rescue Me,” USA’s “Royal Pains” and NBC’s “30 Rock” and “Law & Order: SVU.”

To boot, she’s an established stand-up, sketch and improv performer, with formal training from legendary comedy institutions Upright Citizens Brigade and Second City Hollywood. She stays creative performing her show Super Gay Asian Cabaret at Second City Hollywood.

To date, J. Elaine has starred in several hit Broadway musicals, most recently as Lily St. Regis in the revival of “Annie” opposite Jane Lynch, in the scene-stealing role of Cynthia in “Priscilla Queen of the Desert,” “Miss Saigon,” “A Chorus Line,” “The Wedding Singer,” and “Sweet Charity.”
