Kinding Sindaw to dance at Bronx park July 12

Kinding Sindaw: Recreating Philippine legends.

The cultural group Kinding Sindaw will be performing at the Van Cortland Park on July 12 in a summer dance-and-music series called Barefoot Dancing.

Barefoot Dancing is a celebration of the cultural diversity of New York. It is a series of multicultural programs introducing city residents to various ethnic communities’ and their performing arts. All performances are done with live music and held at the park’s museum lawn.

On July 5, the park will feature Jamaican ethnic dancing called Something Positive. July 12 is the schedule for Kinding Sindaw, a dance theater ensemble founded by Maranao native Potri Ranka Manis, who serves as artistic director. Its mission is to “preserve and re-create” the legends, epics, myths and unwritten history of the Philippines.

The Van Cortlandt Park, located in the Bronx, is New York City’s fourth largest park.
