‘Kain at Kuwento’ with Claude Tayag in Lexington, MA

An evening of gastronomic nostalgia and conversation

When Anthony Bourdain of “No Reservations” went to the Philippines, he sought Claude Tayag to show him how Filipinos eat!

On May 22, Claude will make a special trip to Boston for an evening of gastronomic nostalgia and conversation, according to Nina Givan of Nutmeg social networking. “Kain at Kwento” with the Tayags will be held at St. Brigid’s Church’s Keilty Hall at 2001 Mass Avenue, Lexington, Massachusetts. Claude will be joined by his wife and fellow foodie Mary Ann.

Claude Tayag is more than just a tour guide. He is described in his website as a renowned artist, chef and food writer, who has authored “Food Tour,” a book exploring culinary traditions throughout the Philippines, and contributed a chapter in “Kulinarya: A Guidebook to Philippine Cuisine.”

Most recently, Tayag and Mary Ann published “Linamnam: Eating One’s Way Around the Philippines,” described as a unique and reader-friendly culinary travel guide that will lead readers to the best eats in every region of the Philippines. Tayag is in the U.S. for the Memphis in May event honoring the Philippines as its featured country for the month. He spoke on Filipino cuisine at the Peabody Hotel and gave a demonstration on how to prepare Coconut-Crusted Fish with Mango Salsa.
