As part of the recently announced People Power Disco Hour series of post-show DJ performances inside Club Millennium at the Broadway Theatre (1681 Broadway at 53rd Street), multi-Grammy Award winner and “Here Lies Love”co-producer Apl.de.Ap of Black Eyed Peas will spin a post-show DJ set next Thursday, October 12 immediately following that evening’s 7 p.m. performance of the new musical from David Byrne and Fatboy Slim.

Apl.de.Ap said, “I’m excited to take part as a producer and a DJ for ‘Here Lies Love’ during Filipino American History Month! Took a long time to get here but us Filipinos are finally taking over Broadway. See you there!”

Black Eyed Peas’ founding member and recording artist Apl.de.Ap was born as Allen Pineda Lindo in the rural parts of a small village in the Philippines. Today, Apl.de.Ap is known worldwide as a multi-platinum, Grammy award-winning musician, rapper, and record producer, as well as for his endeavors outside music as an entrepreneur and philanthropist.

For more than a decade, Apl has been committed to helping the next generation of youth and creative leaders unlock their full potential, through his 501(c)3  nonprofit Apl.de.Ap. Foundation International, established in 2011. The foundation’s current projects are focused on supporting youth with greater opportunity and access to the latest in education, arts and innovation, working towards a more inclusive, creative and sustainable world.

While concurrently touring internationally with Black Eyed Peas, Apl is also embarking upon his next journey in entertainment. He serves as a creative executive producer and music supervisor on television, film and stage projects currently in development through his team’s production banner Tala Creative. More about the Tala Creative team’s slate of projects will be announced in late 2023.

The People Power Disco Hour series kicked off this Saturday, October 7, when “Here Lies Love”co-producer and NYC-born Filipina American DJ CherishTheLuv was the DJ   immediately following the 8 p.m. show in celebration of Filipino American History Month.

At these select performances throughout the run, the entire audience at the Broadway Theater will continue the communal spirit and high energy of the show with a 90-minute after-curtain dance party – right from their ticketed spots in the theater! This series will continue on Thursday, October 19; Wednesday, October 25; and Tuesday, October 31, with special guest DJs to be announced.

The People Power Disco Hour follows the spectacular DJ set hosted by Fatboy Slim following the August 31st performance of “Here Lies Love”. In a rare and epic night on Broadway, a packed 1,100 seat theater enjoyed the performance before dancing the night away.

The show features the first all-Filipino cast to perform on Broadway: Arielle Jacobs   as Imelda Marcos, Jose Llana   as Ferdinand Marcos, Conrad Ricamora  as Ninoy Aquino,  Aaron J. Albano, Melody Butiu, Moses Villarama, Jasmine Forsberg, Reanne Acasio, Jaygee Macapugay, Julia Abueva, Renée Albulario, Aaron Alcaraz, Carol Angeli, Nathan Angelo, Kristina Doucette, Roy Flores, Timothy Matthew Flores, Sarah Kay, Jeigh Madjus, Aaron “AJ” Mercado, Geena Quintos, Shea Renne, and Angelo Soriano. Filipino actress Vina Morales will join the show performing as  Aurora Aquino  for a limited guest engagement from  September 22 to October 22.

From its world premiere at The Public Theater in 2013, “Here Lies Love”has enjoyed popular and critical acclaim. The show returned to The Public in 2014-2015, debuted at London’s Royal National Theatre in 2014, and most recently opened at Seattle Repertory Theatre in 2017.
