NYC Parks transformed Central Park into the nation’s largest urban playground at its annual Adventures NYC festival on June 17. Thousands of New Yorkers participated in free outdoor activities, including rock climbing, archery, stand-up paddleboarding, and more.

Held for the 16th time, Adventures NYC invites New Yorkers of all ages and skills levels to celebrate the great outdoors by participating in free outdoor activities. Attendees also enjoyed food trucks, live music, and community tabling throughout the day, and witnessed tree climbing demonstrations from Parks Forestry and Central Park Conservancy workers.

“We are thrilled to welcome New Yorkers back to Central Park this year for our one-of-a-kind annual event, which encourages people to get outside and try new activities,” said NYC Parks Commissioner Sue Donoghue. “Adventures NYC is all about having fun, staying active, and connecting with parks. We’re grateful to all of our sponsors for making this year’s lineup of free activities possible.”

Adventures NYC was presented in partnership with On Running Shoes, Coca-Cola, Smartwater, Bright Horizons, The Dermatology Specialists, Lifeway, New York Public Library, and the Super Mario Brothers movie. Photos: NYC Parks / Daniel Avila
