KC Concepcion says stepdad Kiko values the youth voice

Happy times in Boston for Kiko, KC and Sharon in 1997.

Boston Strong Pinoys for Leni-Kiko held an event, titled “Philippine Elections: What’s at Stake,” focused on the youth and their impact on the May 9 elections. A highlight of the online meet was a video recording of Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan sending his heartfelt message to the youth. Another message came from stepdaughter KC Concepcion sharing her fond memories of their family’s time in Boston in 1997. She completes her video with this very emotional plea to the Filipino youth: “Mahalaga ang tinig mo!” (“Your voice matters!”)

The video was made possible through the efforts of Patricia Yusah, Cheche Lazaro, Kiko’s sister Maricel Pangilinan and Team Kiko.

Boston Strong Pinoys is a small group of volunteers whose mission is to assist the election campaign. The group’s first project was to raise awareness about the candidates by holding a typical New England “Tailgate” with servings of Lugaw in frigid temperature on a parking lot in Burlington in December 2021. The second event was to raise funds by selling “grab and go” Lutong Pinoy in early spring at Boston’s North End, where more than 800 food items were sold in one hour. So far the group has raised over $12k, according to the volunteers. They would like the funds to support the work and safety of the poll watchers.

The Pangilinans’ connection to Boston? It was home for the family while Kiko was completing his Master of Public Administration  degree at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government. Meanwhile, superstar wife Sharon Cuneta also went back to school at Boston College where she enrolled as a freshman in Business Administration. Beantown was an endearing memory for the family.

Here’s a link to the video.
