“Sea, Land, Air: Migration and Labor” program at Panorama City

Filipinos work everywhere. On the high seas, up in the air, and on the ground. Nurse, sailor, singer, farmer, teacher, maid. These are the icons of globalized Filipino labor today. But where do they come from? The Panorama City Branch of the Los Angeles Public Library will be hosting a program presented by the Center for Art + Thought called “Sea, Land, Air: Migration and Labor” on Saturday, May 10, at 3:30pm. The program will feature a presentation and commentary on migration and labor by Professor Sarita Echavez See. Archdiocesan Santacruzan 2014

The Filipino Ministry of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles will hold its Archdiocesan Santacruzan 2014 on May 10, Saturday, 2:45pm at the Cathedral of the Our Lady of the Angels, 555 W. UCLA’s 37th Annual Samahang Pilipino Cultural Night

May 24, 2014 will mark UCLA’s 37th annual Samahang Pilipino Cultural Night (SPCN). This cultural production serves as a major avenue for UCLA students to celebrate and explore the rich culture and history of the Philippines. This year’s show is entitled “After Ours” and it relates back to the recent tragedy in the Philippines regarding Typhoon Haiyan. The show will start at 6pm.
