“Community Service” were the keywords made emphatic by Filipino American leader, Sonja Obusan Menor, 4 L3, District Governor, 2014-2015, at their district’s 48th annual celebration of Community Recognition held recently, as she echoed, “We Serve,” a lexicon of the International Association of Lions Clubs.

The 4-L3 District, according to Menor, whose home club is the L.A. Builder Lions Club, “honored individuals from all walks of life, chosen by the various 22 District Clubs: a cross-section of individuals who have made their respective communities a better place to live in.”

Not one of the chosen honorees residing in the district, has a Lions Club affiliation, Menor continued to state.

Through his message, Joe Preston, the Lions Clubs International President affirmed what the organization stands for, lauding District 4-L3 for its annual recognition program.

“It is a wonderful way to say ‘thank you,’ to those in your community who have set themselves apart for unselfish devotion to the needs of others,” Preston added.

Kihyo Shin, Vice District Governor, 4-L3, in extending his congratulatory wishes to the 2015 honorees said: “Although you are not official members of the Lions Clubs, you share the same value and vision we Lions believe, I’d call you virtual Lions, that is who we are, who care, who share, who love, who donate time and resources to make our communities better places to live and promote peace throughout the world.”

of ‘deserving citizens of their respective communities,’ as she stated: “The Community
Recognition Award is presented to individuals who best personify the qualities each of

The1st Vice District Governor 4-C4 of San Francisco, Macy Mak Chan, likewise sent greetings: “Live a life of happiness and purpose, a life of legacy through giving and service.”
