St. Vincent Medical Center invites the community to a Free 2014 Multicultural Health Fair to be held on September 27, 2014 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 2222 Ocean View Avenue, Los Angeles (near Third and Alvarado streets).

Spearheaded by the Multi-cultural Health Awareness and Prevention (MHAP) Center at St. Vincent’s, the free health services are delivered through partnership agreement with consulate generals of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Peru, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Korea, Philippine, and Thailand.

MHAP Center Director Pedro Ramirez said the fair is in response to the population needs of each consulate – to provide low-income and uninsured individuals with free access to primary care, health screenings, and education and health and social-welfare referrals.

“What is significant about the annual health fair is that it is a partnership that enjoys the power of an entire health community and greatly advances our goal of providing health access in our communities”.

Among the health screening and services at the fair are: Mammography, Flu shots, cholesterol screening, dental, glucose/diabetes, pap smear, Anemia, Osteoporosis, vision, acupuncture, HIV/STD, blood pressure, body fat, depression and anxiety, cancer nutrition, heart disease information and many others. These services are provided on a “first-come first-served” basis during the service hours.

For more information about the fair, please call the MHAP Center at (213) 484- 7766.
