Women-, minority-owned businesses invited to attend investment forum

An investment and entrepreneurship forum aimed at creating linkages among minority and women-owned businesses will be held in New York next month. The Foundation & Endowment Emerging Manager Round-Up Forum will take place on December 10th at the Ford Foundation and December 11th at Westin Grand Central, according to RG & Associates corporate event planning company.

The Oakland-based RG & Associates said the dialogue paves a way for managers in private equity, hedge, real estate, public equity investing to interact with executives and leaders of minority and women-owned firms.

Asian and Filipino professionals need to explore this event, said RG & A’s Filipino accounting manager Mel Varsovia.

“It is a forum focused on paving an avenue for interaction of minority and women-owned entities with senior representatives of private and community foundations and endowments, as well a host of corporate and public pension plans where they can establish a roadmap for inclusive investment practices,” he said.

Varsovia talked passionately about Filipinos letting their entrepreneurial spirits soar in pursuit of the American Dream. A banker in the Philippines, Varsovia migrated to the United States in 1990. He worked in Hollywood, managing the books of renowned filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola, and attended many Oscar’s nights with wife Maria. He played the stock market, bought one company after another and is now helping the owner of RG & Associates, Renae Griffin, grow her business. The forum is jointly organized with the Association of Black Foundation Executives.

Now retired and living in Contra Costa, 15 miles east of San Francisco, Varsovia said he has to remain sharp and edgy.

Filipino finance managers who participate in this conference will have a deeper understanding of the benefits and strategies that enhance teamsmanship in the workplace, he said.

Participation in the forum can be arranged through RG & Associates at 70 Washington Street No. 320 in Oakland, Calif. by calling 510-628-0345 or the New York number at 646-450-8628. Visit rgassociates.org for additional information.
