Alvin Adriano wins travel industry’s Magellan Awards
Alvin Adriano, the CEO of Travelwise International, was among the winners of the 2021 Magellan Awards representing the best professionals in the industry around the world, as announced by Travel Weekly publication.
“It’s humbling to be recognized as an industry leader,” said Adriano when reached by The FilAm. “As Filipino American this is a major win. AAPIs are massively underrepresented in the travel industry and I am grateful to be able to show others the possibilities in travel.”
Travel Weekly announced the winners of the 2021 Magellan Awards on October 16. “The Magellan Award winners represent the best in the travel industry and salute the outstanding travel professionals behind it all.” Adriano was recognized for his weekly podcast, “Smart People Travelwise.” He said his podcast aims to uncover different perspectives in the travel industry and connect people from all around the globe. It airs every Tuesday at 3 p.m. EST on PHLV Radio, iHeartRadio, Spotify and other social media platforms.
Adriano, recognized as a rising star in the industry, has been awarded the 2021 Young Professional of the Year by the American Society of Travel Advisors (ASTA).
The Magellan Awards honors outstanding design, marketing and services in a broad range of industry segments including Hospitality, Travel Destinations, Cruise Lines, Online Travel Services, Airlines and Airports, Travel Agents and Agencies, Tour Operators and Ground Transportation.
“Each year we recognize industry innovators and creative communicators through our Magellan Awards. This year, we recognize the resilience, ingenuity, and path forward created by those who shared their company’s initiatives through words, images and design, and kept travel part of the conversation and part of the equation,” said Arnie Weissmann, editor-in-chief of Travel Weekly. “We salute all those who entered and all those who won.”
Travel Weekly said the Magellan Awards are “judged and overseen by a one-of-a-kind panel of top travel professionals representing the best names and most accomplished leaders from the industry.”
“As a travel professional, this award is the pinnacle for our industry,” said Adriano, a member of the board of FYLPRO.
One of his responsibilities is “creating once-in-a lifetime vacation packages for my clients. I focus my business towards making other’s dream destinations a reality.”
Travelwise International is a family-owned travel agency that opened for business in 1989 and has specialized in international airfare, cruise vacations, land tour departures, and honeymoons. “This family business has grown to new heights and has become one of the industry leaders in travel,” says a statement.
