Batangas artist returns for 5th solo show
Artist Cesar Delos Santos III will bring his subjects to life in both watercolor and oils at his fifth one-man show from June 17-28 at the Philippine Center Gallery on Fifth Avenue.
A native of Talisay, Batangas, he has been exhibiting in galleries across the East Coast. He is a recipient of numerous awards and recognition in the U.S. and the Philippines.
“Cesar Delos Santos III is known for his realist renderings of ordinary life…His works do not aim at social messages or statements. They focus instead on capturing the beauty in everyday realities,” describes the Mills Pond Gallery in Saint James, New York of the artist’s art, his “simple drama of shadow and light.”
Cesar was one of four noted Filipino international artists who were recognized at a reception at Kalayaan Hall of the Philippine Center that honored the first Filipino Mt. Everest climbers. The last time he held a solo show at the Philippine Center was in 2006. The exhibit was entitled “Light and Shadow” and showcases his paintings of landscapes, indigenous clay pots and baskets.
He was a consistent scholar of the prestigious Saturday Art Group, founded by the late Philippine National Artist Cesar Legaspi. He received his bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from the Philippine Women’s University.

Among his many honors, he earned the San Pedro, Laguna Award for the monument entitled “Kalayaan” (Freedom), which he himself sculptured. He won a gold medal from Congressman Nereo Joaquin for his “First Malolos Congress” painting. He received the Gold Medal Award of Honor at the Audubon Artists 65th Annual Exhibit at the Salmagundi Art Club in NYC. He won recognition at various arts events, such as the Hudson Artists of New Jersey Regional Art Exhibits.
He has been a member of the Society of the Philippine American Artists in New York, the Art Association of the Philippines, and the Pintig Art Group Philippines. He art has been welcomed at the Russian Embassy in Manila in 1989.
Expect his talent to “sing out in his works,” says a statement from the Philippine Center announcing his upcoming exhibit.
He is an active member of the North East Watercolor Society in Kent, Connecticut; the Smithtown Township Art Council of Saint James, New York, and the Mills Pond Gallery also of Saint James. His latest honor was in 2016 when he won first prize at the National Art League Fall Members Show in Douglaston, New York, as well as his Jury Award for the Arnot Art Museum in Elmira.
“A man of many talents and honor such as Cesar has numerous years of experience and pride for his work,” says the Philippine Center. “To this day, he continues his passion for his first love of fine arts and he does this splendidly all while competing, joining, and of course successfully winning competitions around him.”
