Remembering Michelle Nyce

Exactly a year ago on December 5, pharmaceutical CEO Jonathan Nyce was freed after serving more than five years for killing his Filipina wife Michelle Rivera in 2004.

He has served his 11.5-year term commuted on good behavior. The court also counted the time he was in prison previous to his sentencing for manslaughter, according to the “Times of Trenton.”

Who can forget the gruesome slaying of Macy’s counter clerk Michelle Nyce whose body was found along a New Jersey creek following a winter storm. What was made to look like a car that accidentally spun out of control turned out to be a cold-blooded killing. Salacious details revealed a marriage on the brink: a mail-order marriage running low on cash, a possessive husband, and a lover who did the landscaping for the family’s Hopewell Township estate.

“Adultery was her husband’s worst nightmare,” writes John Glatt in his true crime book on the case, “Never Leave Me.”

The story so conflicted the FilAm community. One side chided Michelle for being ungrateful to the American who delivered her from poverty; the other side unforgiving to the husband for committing murder instead of filing for divorce.

Nyce, who was reunited with the couple’s three children in Pennsylvania, is reportedly writing his version of the slaying. At trial, he maintained it was all an accident. He is now saying the gardener did it.

Michelle was a slutty wife but she didn’t deserve to be murdered.

Michelle didn’t deserve to be killed, but having an affair with a gardener? Really???? She cheated on her professional millionaire hubby for a gardener???? She was a big disgrace to the Filipinos. I wonder if she was able to confess her sins and asked for forgiveness.

Ok, it wasn’t ‘racism’. She was having an affair with the gardener, had sex with him that night, and so the jury thought there was provocation and an emotional reaction. Whether or not you agree with that assessment is a valid point, but it had nothing to do with racism.
